2005 / 2008
This project is focused on human resources training for high temperature heat pipe production. It was developed within the context of an UFSC Mechanical Engineering Ph. D. thesis. It also involved P&D assistants, as well as Engineering undergraduate students and technical students. It was also aimed to dominate knowledge on the technologies needed for the design and manufacture of high temperature heat pipe in Brazil. These devices have wide application in the petroleum and chemical industry, of great interest for PETROBRAS. In this project, heat pipes with liquid Sodium and Mercury as working fluids were built and charged in specially designed set-ups. The heat pipes were then tested in order to verify their thermal performance.
