26. Development of a Thermosyphon Assisted Heat Exchanger for Turbine Oil Cooling in Thermoelectric Power Plants

Description:
At TRACTEBEL electricity company, the Generating Unit IV of Jorge Lacerda Thermoelectric powerplant , the bearing oil cooling system needs improvements. The main objective of this project is to develop a heat exchanger for bearing oil cooling, employing heat pipe and/or thermosyphon technology to replace, with higher effectivity and lesser costs the existing equipment. Both theoretical and experimental studies are being used in order to seek the best solution. Additional improvements suggested by Tractebel team may also be implemented.
