5. Electric Motor Cooling Technology Development

Description:
This project is split in two main areas: to evaluate the conventional technology in details and to develop an innovative technology for electric motor cooling. Stage one develops a prospective study of a representative motor manufactured by Kohlback S/A, based on the Santa Catarina State, for critical temperature mapping. Stage two, utilizing results from stage one, will develop a solution to improve motor cooling, most likely using rotating thermosyphons with water as working fluid. The prototype testing will be performed in the LABSOLAR/NCTS facilities.
